28.02.2023Lift-off for the AITS Summit in Bremen
02.03.2023Aeronautics & Space Innovative Technology Summit (AITS) runs until Thursday
From Tuesday, 28 February 2023 to Thursday, 2 March, the Aeronautics & Space Innovative Technology Summit (AITS) will take place in Bremen. On the opening day at the concert hall die Glocke, on 1 and 2 March at the BLG Energieleitzentrale. More than 150 companies and over 250 participants are expected at the trade fair for the aerospace industry.
“Bremen is well known in the high-tech field and is among the world leaders in aeronautics and space. The aerospace industry has been a growth industry for many decades. Currently, many areas of the industry are experiencing an upswing. We therefore welcome the organiser’s decision all the more to choose the Hanseatic city as the venue for the Aeronautics & Space Innovative Technology Summit 2023,” says Sven Wiebe, councillor of state at the Ministry of Economics, Labour and Europe, on the occasion of the opening. The opening will be moderated by the Bremen Coordinator for Space, Siegfried Monser.
As part of the official opening of the AITS Bremen, the state of Bremen welcomes an international audience. Holger W. Oelze, Chairman of the Board of Aviaspace Bremen e.V., says: “Aerospace is an important driver of innovation in Bremen. The fair offers the opportunity to find new fields of application and to open up international markets. Many technologies that are already used in aerospace are also interesting for other industries. We want to support technology transfer to these industries; the AITS Summit is an excellent platform for this.”
The AITS Bremen provides information on the latest manufacturing technologies in the aeronautics and space sector. In discussions and workshops, topics such as advanced manufacturing, digitization and automation, 3D printing, additive manufacturing, cyber security and green technology will be discussed. Speakers at the event include representatives from Airbus, Premium Aerotec, ArianeGroup, Ingenics and Telespazio Germany. As a local partner, the aerospace association Aviaspace Bremen e.V. is supporting the AITS.
At the heart of the show is the B2B matchmaking programme at the BLG Energieleitzentrale, where organisers BCI Aerospace arrange business meetings for participants in advance and create a personalised meeting agenda. The concept has long been established in the aviation industry as AeroMart and already takes place successfully in a similar form in Europe, USA, South America, China, Canada and Japan.
The state of Bremen will be presenting itself at the AITS under the heading “CITY OF AEROSPACE”. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about Bremen as an aerospace location and to establish contacts with Bremen-based companies. The ESA Business Incubation Centre Northern Germany will have a stand and will be a contact point for startups with a space connection.
There is hardly a field in European aerospace in which companies from the state of Bremen are not significantly involved. With more than 140 companies and approximately 12,000 employees as well as around 20 research institutes, the state of Bremen and its surrounding area form an internationally important competence cluster with an annual turnover of more than four billion euros. A special feature: both sectors are represented in Bremen at the same time. Bremen thus joins the ranks of the major European locations of Hamburg, Toulouse and Seville. With over 2,000 employees, Bremen is also one of the most important space hubs in Europe.
