21.06.2024Bremen to host the ESA Council at Ministerial Level in 2025
08.07.2024The Startup Summit on 13 June 2024 in Bremen was the flagship event for the startup, tech and innovation community from Bremen and the surrounding area. ESA BIC Northern Germany was represented with a booth and attracted numerous startups interested in space applications, who came to find out about the services and support options offered by ESA BIC Northern Germany.
Inge Heydt, Johannes Krohn and Luise Weber-Steinhaus (all Technical Managers ESA BIC Northern Germany) were on hand to answer visitors’ questions and highlight the various opportunities for startups in the space sector. Johannes Krohn commented: ‘It is inspiring to see how many innovative ideas and projects are being created in the space sector here in Bremen. ESA BIC Northern Germany is pleased to support and promote this development.’
A highlight of the summit was the announcement of the next major space-related event: the Startup Startcamp Bremen, which will take place from 15 to 17 November 2024 at the DIGITAL HUB INDUSTRY Bremen. This event offers an intensive 54-hour session in which ideas for startups are developed, with a special focus on #spaceenabled and #spaceconnected projects. Interested parties can pre-register now on the bremen-startups.de website.
The event highlights the importance of space technologies for various fields of application such as ClimateTech, AgriTech, logistics and defence and shows that space start-ups are not just limited to building satellites or launchers.
Bremen has established itself as a vibrant startup and tech hub and is a European hotspot for space with around 12,000 employees. The city also hosts Europe’s largest B2B space trade fair, Space Tech Expo Europe, which begins just two days after the Startup Startcamp.
Visitors to the summit had the opportunity to meet seven #spaceenabled and #spaceconnected startups:
ASTRA e.V. – Builds rockets and shows the diverse fields of application of space technologies.
ESA BIC Northern Germany – Bremen’s incubator for space-related startups.
Marble Imaging – Platform for analysing and providing earth observation data.
TRILITEC GmbH – Sensors to reduce production waste and accidents in challenging environments.
MAGNESIA – Revolutionary cooling for satellites to reduce greenhouse gases.
UAV-DEV GmbH – Multi-sensor boats, rovers and drones for autonomous missions on water, land and in the air.
Finite Air – Individually optimised drones for specific applications.
Interested parties can still register for the next event on the bremen-startups.de website and become part of the dynamic space startup community in Bremen.
