As of June 6, 2024, the Forschungs-GmbH (FGW) Wismar with its InnovationPort Wismar has become an official location of the ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Northern Germany in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (MV). This means that the innovation site, which is part of the Digital Innovation Centers of Digital MV with its InnovationPort, is now also one of the 29 incubation centers of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Europe and is the first ESA BIC Northern Germany location in the eastern federal states of Germany.
On June 6, 2024, the collaboration was sealed with the signing of the cooperation agreement at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2024. Minister for Economic Affairs Reinhard Meyer from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Kristina Vogt, Minister for Economic Affairs, Ports, and Transformation, Bremen, signed the corresponding cooperation agreement together with Thorsten Rudolph, Managing Director at Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen, and Jürgen Sawatzki, Managing Director of Forschungs-GmbH Wismar. “The support program was established to facilitate access to ESA funding programs for start-ups and other innovators,” said Minister Meyer.
