From Startup to Stellar: The Growing Success of Marble Imaging
06.03.2025On Monday, February 17, 2025, Senator for Economic Affairs Ports and Transformation Kristina Vogt will travel to Bavaria to meet with leading players in the space industry in the region. The agenda includes visits to companies such as OHB, MT Aerospace, Rocket Factory Augsburg, Airbus Defence and Space, and Exploration Company, as well as discussions with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the AZO Application Center Oberpfaffenhofen, a partner of the Bremen-based space incubator ESA BIC Northern Germany. The focus will be on current developments in the space industry—particularly future missions, innovative technologies, and Germany’s role in international competition. In addition, there will be a meeting with the Bavarian State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tobias Gotthardt.
Senator Kristina Vogt: “Space industry is a crucial area for innovation, security and economic strength. Private and public investments in space offer great potential. Especially in times of industrial transformation, space industry can create new jobs and development opportunities. As other countries invest heavily in space, Europe needs to take action to avoid falling behind. More funding for space means investing in technological advances, economic independence, security, education, and strengthening not only the economy, but society as a whole. Dependence on other countries can become much more expensive in the long term – as many concrete examples already show. Bremen is an important location for aerospace. We therefore see a great opportunity in working with Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and other federal states to advance space industry and to anchor it more firmly at the federal level.”
With her trip to Bavaria, Senator Vogt is sending a clear signal about the importance of the space industry and emphasizing the need for close cooperation among Germany’s leading space centers. Bremen, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg have been working for many years on joint recommendations for Germany’s space strategy within the framework of the European Space Agency (ESA). This close national cooperation strengthens the economic and scientific ties between the three states. The aim is to further deepen the exchange between industry, research, and politics, thereby promoting Germany’s innovative strength in this forward-looking field.
