Meet the Future: Startup Pitches with Space Vision
12.11.2025Switzerland’s aerospace and space-technology ecosystem is compact, highly specialised and increasingly export-oriented — a dynamic on full display with the participation of 14 Swiss companies at the Swiss Pavilion at Space Tech Expo Europe in Bremen. Behind these exhibitors lies a high-precision cluster with strong technological competencies, solid export performance and an integrated innovation network.
The Swiss aeronautics- and space-cluster is defined by small and medium-sized enterprises that supply highly specialised components and subsystems rather than full platforms. The sector employs around 1 500 professionals in space-related activities and contributes significantly to high-value exports. In 2024, Swiss aerospace exports are estimated at USD 2.46 billion, reflecting the country’s ongoing strength in advanced manufacturing, precision engineering and micro-technology. These figures illustrate Switzerland’s distinctive model: smaller in scale, but deeply embedded in global aerospace and space value chains.
Key technology areas driving Swiss competitiveness include:
- Precision mechanics and lightweight structures for satellites, launch vehicles and aircraft.
- Optics, sensors and electronics used in navigation, Earth-observation and onboard instruments.
- RF and microwave components for satellite communication and telemetry.
- Navigation and timing systems (PNT) essential for spacecraft and autonomous aerospace applications.
- Additive manufacturing and advanced materials for high-performance, weight-optimised systems.
- NewSpace and downstream services, supported by strong Swiss research and innovation hubs.
The 14 Swiss exhibitors in Bremen come from across these industries — from precision engineering and sensor systems to avionics, composites and advanced manufacturing. Together, they represent the depth and diversity of Swiss expertise and its contribution to the international aerospace supply chain. The Swiss Pavilion is organised by Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE), the official Swiss agency for export and investment promotion, and supported by the Swiss Business Hub Germany in Stuttgart. S-GE helps Swiss SMEs expand abroad through trade-fair participation, market intelligence and partner search, while the Swiss Business Hub facilitates access to the German and broader European markets.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Swiss aerospace and space cluster is expected to maintain its upward trajectory, driven by innovation in sustainability, miniaturisation, and digitalisation of aerospace systems. With its export-intensive structure, precision mindset and strong institutional support, Switzerland is poised to deepen its integration into Europe’s next-generation space and aeronautics economy.
