14.07.21: Due to the unpredictable development of the Corona pandemic, the German Aeronautics and Space Congress (DLRK) will take place as a hybrid event, on-site in Bremen and online. Between August 31. – September 2. 2021 the German Aeronautics and Space Society (DGLR) invites experts and young professionals to network and exchange scientific ideas at the ECOMAT (Centre for Eco-efficient Materials & Technologies) research and technology centre, as well as on the virtual congress platform.

The DLRK was last held in Bremen in 2011, exactly ten years ago, with the motto, “Aeronautics and Space – Visions for a Sustainable Future”. This year, the 70th DLRK will begin on August 31. 2021, with the Plenary Day. The opening ceremony, two panel discussion and other plenary lectures, will be streamed live from ECOMAT in Bremen on this day. DLRK participants can participate via the virtual congress platform and follow the programme live. On site, guests will discuss future aeronautics and space topics, such as climate-neutral aviation, alternative fuels and future space missions. DGLR President Prof. Rolf Henke, Thomas Jarzombek, Coordinator of the German Government for Aerospace, Arndt Schoenemann, CEO of Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS), OHB CEO Marco Fuchs, and Lars Wagner, Chief Technology Office of MTU Aero Engines, have all confirmed their participation in the Plenary Day. ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti and ESA astronaut Dr. Matthias Maurer, who will be the commander of the International Space Station (ISS) for the first time this autumn as part of his “Comic Kiss” mission, have also been requested to contribute.

The DLRK will continue on the 01.09 – 02.09 as a virtual scientific conference. Participants can expect a diverse programme of lectures in various virtual meeting rooms. These will be a mixture of recorded expert lectures and exciting live discussions. The lectures will be available on-demand to all registered participants in a media library for a minimum of three more months after the congress.

The virtual congress platform will be hosted by a new provider this year. The DGLR is pleased to have gained an experienced partner for online events. For the first time, there will also be a virtual exhibition space on the platform where sponsors and the DGLR junior research groups can present themselves.
