Virtual Scotland-Germany Space Roundtable

Scotland’s space sector is rising faster than anywhere else in the UK, aiming to grow in value to GBP 4 billion by 2030 and placing Scotland among the frontrunners in Europe – in fact, Glasgow manufactures more satellites than any other city in Europe. Scotland is also developing Europe’s first orbital spaceport alongside flexible vertical and horizontal launch sites. From design, manufacturing and testing to launch and operation, Scotland is in a unique position to service all space tech needs.

Germany’s engineering and technical prowess make it a natural leader for the modern space race. Germany features one of Europe’s most important space sector ecosystems. Alone the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy spends more than EUR 1 billion on space R&D each year. The Federal Government is supporting space as a key technology to serve humanity and supports projects in the fields of earth observation, satellite communications and satellite navigation.

Scottish Development International (SDI), Scottish Government and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) would like to invite Scottish and German companies to share opportunities and discover diverse possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the field of space at the:

The event will be hosted on Go-to-Meeting and will be a combination of presentations and breakout sessions as follows:

1) Two presentations to provide an overview of the Scottish and the German space sectors and key capabilities – provided by Scottish Space Leadership Council and Fraunhofer-Allianz Space

2) Three contemporaneous virtual roundtables on the following themes:
• Spaceports and Launchers – moderated by AVIASPACE BREMEN e.V.
• Micro Satellites and Equipment – moderated by Scottish Space Leadership Council
• Downstream Applications (Earth Observation) – moderated by bavAIRia e.V.

As part of the registration, attendees will be requested to provide input on any areas they would like to discuss/collaborate on. Based on this input, the agendas of the virtual roundtables will be customised to best address participants wishes.
