08.01.2024German federal state of Bremen and AVIASPACE BREMEN e.V. strengthen international co-operation as supporters of the Networking Reception at the German Canadian Concourse.
Bremen, 30. November 2023- German federal state of Bremen is promoting co-operation in the aerospace industry between Germany and Canada and in this context supported the Networking Reception at the German Canadian Concourse. Germany and Canada are important partners, particularly in the aeronautics and space sector. Canadian companies used the last edition of the leading European trade fair, Space Tech Expo Europe 2023 in Bremen, to present themselves to a wide audience as part of a pitch event at the City of Space booth. This type of networking event with Canada has met with great interest in the aerospace industry, but there is also great interest in the fields of robotics, AI and maritime applications. This makes the planned delegation visit to Canada from 20 to 24 May 2024 all the more interesting; the delegation will visit the Montréal Aerospace Innovation Forum, among others, and is organised by Hamburg, Bavaria and Bremen. The German Canadian Concourse was an excellent opportunity to publicise the delegation’s trip and further intensify contacts.
The Concourse, as the second episode of the “AIQ – Canada’s and Germany’s Artificial Intelligence Quotient” mini-series, took place on 30 November 2023 in Berlin and focused on artificial intelligence (AI) in aerospace. The presentations and panel discussions between the Montreal and Berlin locations, which were connected live, were attended by high-ranking speakers. A particular highlight was the presentation by German Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) with Mr Vögele on the topic of “Smart Robots for Planetary Exploration – How much AI is feasible?”
Originally planned for March 2020, the GCC 2023 was cancelled due to the COVID lockdown measures. The conference built on the discussions from GCC 2019 and focused on building connections for transatlantic AI collaboration. This time, the focus was on the application of AI in the aerospace industry.
AI in the aerospace industry
The aerospace industry is recognising the potential of AI and is seeing a rise in standalone applications as well as some end-to-end applications. We are beginning to see how AI is influencing and transforming the aerospace industry.
The industry encompasses all activities and services related to aircraft and spacecraft. Governments, companies, agencies (civil and military), research institutes and increasingly startups play a crucial role. Key tasks within the industry are project development, manufacturing and construction, operations, education and training as well as related research activities. Artificial intelligence and deep learning have found their way into all of these areas and have the potential to fundamentally change the industry.
The GCC 2023 focussed on the following AI-related and machine learning aspects in aerospace:
- – Applications of AI in aviation: insights into current and future AI applications in the industry.
- – End-to-end solutions: Experiences and developments of comprehensive AI solutions in aerospace.
- – Impact on the industry: discussions on how AI is changing and driving the industry forward.
The German federal state of Bremen sees its support of the Networking Evening Event as an opportunity to promote international collaboration and drive innovative approaches in the aerospace industry. The Networking Evening Event offered leading minds and experts the opportunity to exchange ideas and shape the future of aerospace together.
